WONDERFUL MERCY CHURCH Worship Ministry Commitment & Agreement

I understand and agree to the following guidelines and values:

  • 1.0 Commitment to the Ministry of Wonderful Mercy. We believe those involved in the Worship Ministry should fully embrace the vision of Wonderful Mercy: Expanding God’s kingdom by loving people into passionate relationship with Jesus. This entails having attended the “Welcome to Wonderful Mercy” orientation class and understanding what it means to be a committed member of this local fellowship.

  • 2.0 Proper Perspective. Those who serve in the WMC Worship Ministry should be passionate for the presence of God, possess a sensitivity to the movement of the Spirit and the needs of the body, and exhibit appropriate humility. Humility is particularly important because where ego surfaces, ministry suffers. The Worship Ministry is about Jesus, not about us and our musical gifts or technical skills. A positive attitude and a teachable spirit is vital to maintaining a good atmosphere in rehearsals and worship services. Moreover, team members fully understand that being a part of this ministry is a privilege and not a right. They will not take offense to decisions made by the leadership of the Worship Ministry, understanding that these decisions are made in the best interest of the team and the body at Wonderful Mercy. Accordingly, new team members will be evaluated after 90 days to determine if their continued participation is in the best interest of the Worship Ministry

  • 3.0 Skill. Musicians and vocalists are required to have solid skills. Desire to minister musically must be partnered with the requisite talent so that God’s people will not be distracted by ongoing mistakes or sloppy presentation. We value the highest possible quality in our worship ministry, and we encourage music ministry members to participate in ongoing training for their voice or instrument. New team members are required to attend two (2) consecutive rehearsals prior to ministering with the team on Sunday.

  • 4.0 Dependability. Regular attendance of rehearsals and services is a must. If you cannot attend a rehearsal or a service in which you are scheduled to minister, you are to contact Charlie Liko (cell: 480.507.2197). If you know you are going to be absent, contact Charlie no later than Saturday, 9:00 p.m. for Sunday service or Wednesday, 3:00 p.m. for rehearsal. Team members may be asked to step down from the ministry for a probationary period if absences are a consistent problem.

  • 5.0 Conduct. The following behaviors will not be tolerated from Music Ministry team members:
    • Erratic attendance at rehearsals
    • Habitual tardiness
    • Lack of attention or excessive playfulness at rehearsals
    • Profanity of any kind
    • Arguing or fighting
    • Disrespect towards each other, team leaders, the pastors, or staff
    • Bad attitudes, negativity, or actions that dampen the enthusiasm of the team
    • The voicing of ill-feelings publicly (please speak to your leader or pastor if you have an issue)

  • 6.0 Dress. The way you dress for platform ministry should accent the importance of the Worship Ministry. Please keep the following in mind:
    • Women: watch low-cut outfits and short skirts
    • Men: not too casual (i.e., cutoff shorts, tank tops, etc.)
    • All: no gum chewing!

  • 7.0 Personal Character and Spiritual Growth. We believe that our Worship Ministry team members will pursue daily growth in their relationship with Christ by: spending time with God in prayer and the Word on a regular basis, offering Him private praise and worship, and seeking those things God desires to give. We are all in the process of being conformed to the image of Christ and will need God’s grace to grow in these areas. Worship Ministry team members take the call to be a worshiper seriously, and desire for their lives off the platform and outside of church to reflect their calling.
