The name
"Myoclonia" is actually a psychological/medical term.
While myoclonia is actually a muscle spasm, the concept of
the label comes from a thing called a hypnagogic myoclonic
twitch. A hypnagogic myoclonic twitch is the feeling
that many people feel between the state of wakefulness and
sleep in which one feels as if they are falling, causing
one to jerk often upsetting the person's sleep. The
spiritual metaphor that we're pulling from this (yes, there
is one) is being shaken out of spiritual slumber. We
live in a society where "Christian values" have become
marketed and stereotyped into an industry. This
condition has watered down a, once, very counter-cultural
message into something talked about but rarely lived.
The artists involved with Myoclonia are people serious
about revisiting the teachings of Christ, and daring to
live it out in the context of today. The songs and
writings are honest wonderings, wanderings and
worship. Raw, not always pretty, these artist and
poets are those who are hanging there hearts out there,
that we might listen to the song that God is writing on
their hearts.
